Larissa's Great AdventureLarissa's Great Adventure is an RPG about a young girl named Larissa Jeniver. She has heard the tales of the great sorceress, Sesrina, who used to protect the world from evils. But long ago, she was forced to sacrifice herself to keep a great force of darkness sealed away for good. Legend has it that Sesrina left her wand in a cave near Nikoho Town--Larissa's hometown. But it's also told that the cave has been cursed and that the wand is unobtainable except to a choice few. Larissa, being one who loves adventures, decides one day to check it out... I worked hard on this game, I hope you can see that when you download it and try it out! ^_^

Although there are no posts here, might as well use this thread for the explanation. Okay, for those of you who were wondering what was going on with the 404 download page, I suggest you take another look at the release date. Yep, that's what I'm saying. April Fools!Yes, unfortunately Larissa's Great Adventure isn't ready to be released yet. ^_^; Far from, in fact. But I figured, what with April Fools Day coming up, I might as well say it was for a prank. Sorry to those of you who genuinely wished it was out, I'll see if I can get the real thing out soon! To any Mac users who got excited when I claimed that the game was being released on Macs, unfortunately I haven't gotten a decent compiler for the Macintosh. Still waiting on that Mac version of Game Maker! To those of you who figured it out and started playing along by pretending you had actually managed to play the game... you all are awesome. And a happy April Fools to you! The main part of the prank was, obviously the 404 page. Which is the part I put the most thought into, likely. ...For those of you who didn't notice, if you waited at that page for about eight seconds, Larissa would pop up and say "what a mean April Fools prank, A.G.!" (If you don't believe me, take a look for yourself. ) So after drawing that animation, the next step was to make the page. What I did was grab the source code from a 404 page (or a little extra authenticity, I made sure it was the same error page you'd get on my server ^_~), and tweaked it so that the animation would pop up below the real-looking 404 text. And with that, I cleverly put the fake download page on the server, which made it look like the link was bringing up a mysterious 404. Oh no, the download's not working! And then of course was the part where I set up the site to look like Larissa's Great Adventure was actually released. First was putting the info on the game page (I even put in the rating to make it look authentic. Even more so since the rating is an estimate of what the rating on the real Larissa's Great Adventure will be), and then was moving the link out of 'coming soon,' and most importantly, announcing it on the news. I also made this thread to add to the realism, and to collect cries of "the download link isn't working! D:" ...which unfortunately didn't happen, although there was one post up for a while, but got deleted by the time I had logged on to try and respond. You know who you are. ^_~ Which isn't to say the prank was a failure though, since the reaction all ended up being over at that place you all know as the NTWF. A few got excited at the fact that it was out, others saw through it fairly quickly. A few, as mentioned before, even started playing along and pretending that they had really managed to download and play it. And I even got to do my innocent "whut? Let me check if I typoed the URL again..." spiel. Good times. Whether you discovered it was a prank or not, though, the truth comes out now that it was all, in fact, intended for April Fools Day. Larissa's Great Adventure is not really out--much to poor Larissa's dismay. But there you have your planned-out fake release of Larissa's Great Adventure. Now before y'all get disappointed, here's a few things you might expect for the real LGA that might make the wait a little more worthwhile. ^_~ - 3D graphics, with some shiny cinematic cutscenes
- Voice acting, or at least some sound effects that will involve voice actors
- Some exciting scenery, and fun dungeons
- Thanks to something mentioned by someone on the NTWF, possibly customizable controls
- And more!
In the meantime, however, you can check out an archived version of the fake release page on our server, here. Happy April Fools, everyone!

This was a great prank. XD At first, I wasn't expecting to see LGA for at least half a year, so when it came out on April 1st, I was suspicious, of course. But, since I'm obviously an idiot, I decided to try to download it anyway. It gave me the usual error, but I was too impatient to sit there and stare at it, so thats when I told you the download link wasn't working. XD My computer was messing up so I changed to the other one, and since I didn't really have anything else to say, that's when I vanished from the NTWF, not seeing Larissa point out it was a prank. I got the error message again, and left it up for a few seconds because a friend called me, and then I saw Larissa pop up and say "What a mean prank." XD So later I came back to the NTWF, claiming that I got the download link to work and was playing the game. Later on, others said they downloaded the game too. Good times. XDD

Thanks, guys. ^_^ Anyway, I'm going to be locking this thread until the real Larissa's Great Adventure comes out, to prevent spam and such. So if anyone has any last comments, I suggest you make them before tomorrow morning.
