Star Sweep ReimaginedThe first fanfic on all of AmysGames, Star Sweep Reimagined is based off the unheard-of but quite fun game called Puzzle Star Sweep. In this story, watch as Tia's journey to become the new Sweep Master turns into something more than she could have imagined. This thread is to tell me what you think of the story, and what you think should be improved. Or you could just talk about Star Sweep. Whichever works for you.

Thanks Candy, Celes. ^_^
And yes, now maybe you can get an idea why I've been obsessing over the game so much. :3

-Sooo in the actual Star Sweep game, when you lose, it gives you a losing fanfare and then asks if you want to continue, then starts that same match again. So in the real game, you wouldn't be allowed to continue to the next area if you lost against Rio. But shh. I plead creative license. >_> -In the game, twenty seconds is the time you need to beat if you want to get gold in Time Attack. -The actual game never did give names for any of the areas you visit. Nor were the Yosei called anything except 'people.' For the record, though, the names were Omni's idea. -I do not think Rio's hair was designed to face the way it does in that second picture. <_< But then, I don't think star pigs were designed to face any direction besides straight out to the side... at least they both turned out okay. ...I felt like rambling about that chapter, and didn't know where else to do it. >_> If anyone bothered to read those and wants to hear more random tidbits, just ask and I'll pull out ramble bits about the prologue and chapters 1 and 2...

Whoo, an excuse to ramble. -The prologue is mainly based off the section in the game manual labeled "Story," but has tidbits taken from the ending cutscene as well. -I think I said this already, but Yosei Isle never had an actual name in the game. -Also, the Sweep Master was simply referred to as "master" in the manual. But Sweep Master sounded cooler. -They never said Tia and Mint were siblings in the game, but they looked similar enough that I figured they might as well be. (And it also describes Mint as "similar to Tia," and it's my theory that similar and sibling are synonyms in Japanese... *remembers that she was going to look that up, but then never did*) -Stell doesn't exist in the game... instead you just see two unnamed star pigs whenever you start a game. But I thought each Yosei having their own pet star pig would make more sense in this case. So, I made up Stell. -I used the name Stell because it's similar to stella, the Latin word for star. -On a related note, apparently in the Japanese version of Puzzle Star Sweep, Tia's name is Sitrah ("Shitora" in Japanese phonetics). Why they changed it, though, I have no idea. -The game never specified who saw B-1... nor did it really mention when or even IF he showed up at all, now that I think of it... so I decided to use my creative liberty skillz on this one. -In the game, it takes like two seconds to get from one area to the next. Realistically, forests are gigantic. -I never could quite figure out how Funger's name was spelled... in Story mode, it's Funga, but in VS mode, it's Funger. And on a site somewhere, I saw Fungar. >_> But since the Japanese version is Fungaa, I'm not surprised that there are all the variations. They could've tried to be consistent though... personally, I decided to go with Funger and then stuck with it. -Funger talking in third person stemmed from his line in Story mode, which starts out with "Funga!" (which probably has something to do with a Japanese dialogue thing which I know very little about) -I'm pretty sure the Sweep Dojo was intended to just be a fighting dojo, but I took creative liberties. XD; I almost made the Sweep Dojo not teach fighting at all, but that created a plothole, which I fixed at the last minute. We can assume that at least one of the other classes taught there is fighting. *shifty eyes*
-Just for the record, Po and Ken are twelve and thirteen respectively. Tia is fourteen. (And I know this because the game says so. XDDD) -Combos, chains and quick chains are actual techniques from the game. -Characters never seem to change their outfits in many games/shows/movies, you know? But when I realized that snow and mini-skirts do not mix, I couldn't resist. (And yeah, Tia really has more of a mini-skirt in the game... Rio does, too, for the record. But in the art for Reimagined, the skirts always ended up looking longer, and I never bothered to correct it.) EDIT: Chapter 6 is out. Whoo, more rambles. -Sooo in the actual game, Rank is never mentioned as being the Sweep Master, and neither is anyone else. But of all the characters to take the role, I figured he was the most plausible.
-I should note that all of the characters have lines in this story that resemble the ones they actually say in Story Mode. Po and Rank are the two notable exceptions, where Tia never called Po "the master of stardust" and Tia never asked Rank out on a date. XDDDDD (And no, I'm not kidding about that last one.) But hey, at least she still thinks he's cute. <3
-Kitten-Domingo is such an awesome mental image and I wanna see a picture of that now. :333

Perhaps when I'm not busy with chapter pictures. -Not much I can say, actually... other than BADDA BUM BUM. And Tia/Rank is yay. :3 -I guess I can go ahead and mention that the picture for this chapter is the first that wasn't sketched out on paper before being drawn on the computer... and the doodle I made of the spaceship beforehand doesn't exactly count. (I was actually playing the game to get that doodle... and it's annoyingly difficult drawing something that only appears on-screen for, like, two seconds. )

-It never really said what kind of technological level the Yosei were at in the game, but since the characters/areas seemed pretty early to me, I figured it their technology would be likewise. So obviously, spaceships are a little out of their league. -That "confused jumble of a message" I mentioned would likely be something along the lines of "What?! Her?! She's the Sweep Master?!" ...in case that's not obvious enough. -The incredibly lame pun came from the game. "I'll clean YOU up!" -B-1 spits out an error message because he wasn't told what to do if he lost. XD; Because I feel like pointing out these might-not-be-obvious things today. -By official game standards, Doctor J is Dr. J... but that's kind of a pain to punctuate, especially when it comes to periods. XD; It looks kinda cooler this way, anyways. (On a side note, I guess B-1 is actually punctuated as B1. But the dash looks nice on my eyes, so I'm leaving it that way.) -The original artists didn't seem to know much about consistency, seeing as there are two different variations of Doctor J's outfit: one with a plunging neckline, and one without. I went with the latter in this case. (Actually, they might have done that particular inconsistency on purpose, considering the former was in a bonus thing... but then again...) -Finally... *points to the Doctor J picture which may or may not be foreshadowing something* >_> <_< Intrigue is fun. EDIT: Hmm, it's kinda quiet in here. <_< Well, that won't stop me from my chapter 9 rambles. -This chapter was actually my main reason for writing this fanfic in the first place, I think. XDDD; Most of the assorted stotyline bits from the game centered around Doctor J, sooo... naturally, I ended up putting a lot of focus on her. Mostly to get The Plan to make sense. -I lovehate drawing things from angles which you never see in the game. It calls for a lot of guesswork. (You only ever really saw that arm from one angle, and the angle I drew it at isn't it. So, yeah, guesswork.) -...Completely random, but I'm suddenly reminded of Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist. And now I have amusing mental images of Doctor J doing an "I'M NOT SHORT" rant.

Has anyone even been reading these, I wonder? >_> -I based the poses in that first picture off the ending cutscene of the game. As a result, the music that plays during that cutscene goes through my head whenever I look at that picture. -The dialogue is also vaguely based off the ending cutscene... except Rank never appears in said cutscene. As such, Rank stole Tia's line of "you're not fooling people that easily!" -I can't be the only one who noticed that Doctor J's monologue took up an entire chapter, can I? XDDDD Yeah, I think I'd wanna be smacked, too.

Nice ending, short and sweet. <3
Smacking? Nah, it was a fun little diabolical monologue. ^^ You did a good job with this fanfic PFA. And by the way, some people do read your little rambles. I might not get the reference but Dr. J doing a rant on how she is not short is still hilarious. xDD
